Shot from mostly underneath the water, we see from below, through the schools of fishes, a turtle, and a muskrat. We watch as they circle around, curious to see what is going on above the surface of their home. None of this activity below the surface was apparent to me while I was above. In the video, I sing a song I sing often in nature: "Most Beautiful Sky", by Annie Zilstra as an offering to this place, and then I move through a set of Qigong, the "Invocation Set" by Brea Fisher, which then transformed into improvised movement. I pass by this pond whenever I am leaving or arriving home. I have skated here in winter. One year while I was listening and waiting for the sound of the first peeper in spring, a baby beaver nearly crawled over my muddy boot! I am so grateful to have a relationship with this pond. The additional cello, voice and rattles sound track is a collaboration by Robin Lane, Fletcher Boote, Andrea Goodman and myself. We recorded this improvisation during the (stillness) collective retreat.
