As I entered the cave, the temperature dropped 20 degrees, and I was met with iron gate. Hands grasping the bars, I stood and breathed in the river of air rushing forth from deep underground. I planted myself there breathed in and listened. After a time when I breathed out, a river of sound began to swell and flow from inside of me with each exhale. This song, came from within the mountain, one mountain singing a river through me, to an other mountain, and in turn, a response, echoing back again through me. "Mountain me Mountain". I allowed this surprising flow of sound. To and fro. Call and Response. Somewhat shaken by the opening of myself as a channel, I carefully take each step out of the dark. Made while in a residency organized by Heather Lyon and David Voros at the International Center for the Arts. Collaboratively shot and recorded by Misael Soto.
